【外文摘要】It's better for the thesis to study the history of modern chinese intelectuals in the beggining time than the historical characteristics of newly intelectuals in Westernization Movoment. It aims at revealing general features of modern chinese intelectuals in the beggining, providing a foundation of observing and researching for objective moving process of modern Chinese intelectuals themselves.The thesis consists of part four parts． 1．preface．Introducing of writting thought ：purpose, structure and methods etc. 2. Grent changes without precedent in history 一一discussing social environment and conditions of modern chinese intelectuals in Westernization Movement．The chapter expounds the relations of appearance of modern chinese intelectunls to social enviornment in that time and road to be produced. 3. The historical characteristics of modern Chinese intelectuals.This is main part.it shows the begging features of modern chinese intlectuals on the renewal and change of ideology，knowledge structure and living way. 4. The end．The historical position and effect of newly chinese intelectuals in westernization Movement.
