【摘要】强求富”的运动。李鸿章一生创办了一大批的军工、民用企业,以及在发展教育、交通、通讯等领域都做了不少开创性的工作。但是,这其中最令李鸿章引以为自豪的,也是他一生最重要的是创办了北洋海军,这也是李鸿章兴办洋务的主要目的。李鸿章倡导的洋务运动促进了中国民族资本主义的发展,具有开中国近代化先河之功,是值得肯定的。

【外文摘要】After 1850’s, the situation had taken change a lot at home and abroad. Especially, the two failures of the Opium Wars make a great shock for late Qing government and many learned people. From the Meiji Restoration and frequent contacting with foreigners, Li Hongzhang had come to realize that the Chinese economy, science and technology go behind the west. So he overcomes all the difficulties and resistance and carries out Westernization Movement with his wisdom.Li has founded large number enterprises, which cover military, civilian education, transport, communications and other fields in his whole life. But, the most proud and the most important contribution for Li is to establish the Northern Navy, which is his main object.Westernization Movement has promoted the development of national capitalism in China, which has set a precedent in that time and just the right thing.
